Trailer Parking Area
Posted on Apr 10th, 2014

Homeowners with ATVs and boats often have no garage storage available, and outdoor trailer parking at your home is prohibited by the Covenants.  The Powder Horn Developer has agreed to permit the use of the old golf clubhouse parking area (beside the upper driving range) as a trailer parking area. Additional earth berming around the lot would screen the area from view, spaces would be marked, users would pay a fee to use the area, trailer size would be limited in length and height, and a locked gate would be installed.  Users would sign a liability waiver, no lighting would be installed, no mechanical work would be permitted, and the user would be responsible for any theft or damage. Leon Thomas has worked up a rough drawing suggesting about 40 spaces 15X25 could be created; and a basic budget.  Monthly space rental would probably be $20 to $25 and with the goal of paying the HOA back the costs of the project.

Great Idea, long overdue. The sooner the better.

Terrible idea. Most of us bought & built our homes here because of the beautiful views. We do not want to look at a storage yard.

Great idea and the proposal suggests that homeowners would not have to view the storage area at all and the views would remain the best. Will look forward to this coming asap.

RV parking is a great idea. Maybe the area on the south end behind the gravel pile would be best suited for most Powder Horn residents.

We're in favor of the trailer parking as described and will take a spot.

An RV parking area is a good idea. I am not in favor of the proposed area. No amount of burming will hide it from view for those of us with elevated homesites. It is in direct view from our deck. I submit putting it at the Bird Farm Road entrance instead of right in the middle of the development. Not visible by anyone in that location.

I don't believe this is the best option for location. I support it, but only if it is located where residents would not be viewing it.

Good idea, wrong location. We agree that the area near Bird Farm Road behind the gravel pile would be a much better place. We have never seen an RV parking lot between two fairways or right in the middle of a subdivision. Will there be enough spaces for EVERY homeowner? What ARE the width and height restrictions and will they be enforced? If not, we could see where this could be abused.

I agree a facility is needed as the Powder Horn grows and more people have more toys..This being said, the South entrance seems logical whereas you would have the ability to expand in the future...

Let's see........I can't park my ATV's on my driveway because it is unsightly to others and prohibited by the covenants BUT it's permissible for the HOA to develop a trailer parking area within view of many homeowners??
I support the proposal but not in an area that impacts the view of any resident.
Consider locating it by the Bird Farm road entrance or over the hill on the East side of the PH.

Good idea. Wrong location. I agree with the others that suggested the bird farm entrance.

Such a facility may be needed, but, in my view, the old clubhouse site is not a good choice as it is too visible for some homeowners. The site over the hill is not good either as it would severely clutter up the views enjoyed by the Knode Ranch residents. The south entrance site is a better choice. If the old clubhouse site is used what will happen to the recycling bins? Many of us use them.

Excellent idea, wrong location. Suggest south entrance off Big Horn/Bird Farm road. Parking should accomodate RV's or motor homes, all types trailers including RV, boat, ATV, snow machine. The paved area would be nice but this would be larger and far more useful long-term. Thanks.

It is a bad idea. Those who don't have need for toys will, in the long term, subsidize this (repaving as an example). And in the fuel we burn recycling in town. And it will bring one more level of tacky to the PH. If folks need a parking spot they should pay/park where they do now. It's not an amenity, needed by small %, and never promised previously (quite the opposite). Is this a survey or vote?

Probably a good idea to get RVs out of sight but no homeowners should have to look at RV parking area.

One of the benefits to living in our beautiful community is enjoying all the area has to offer. Some of those activities require toys. Having a place to park those toys is a great idea. I would definitely support the idea so long as it does not detract from the beauty of our home and provided it is available at a reasonable fee... or even as a benefit to members.

We are opposed to putting a trailer storage area at the location of the old clubhouse. One of the attractions of the Powder Horn is the absence of RVs, boats, trailers and other “stuff” parked outside of houses. All owners purchased their property knowing that RVs, boats, and trailers could not be parked at their houses. A cluster of RVs looks no better than several single RVs.

We are opposed to the proposed trailer parking lot location. We would be able to see this from our home and can't imagine such an eyesore in the middle of such a beautiful community. The suggestion of having the parking area located behind the hill along Bird Farm Road seems to make much better sense.
